2024 in Review
This year, the Executive Report covered a wide range of topics, with more than 20 issues. Our goal for 2024 was to inform, educate, and help our readers be more effective in running their metal roofing businesses. As always, we strive to discuss new strategies, relevant updates, and experiences from years of metal roofing manufacturing, marketing, and sales.
We were fortunate this year to hear significantly more from Isaiah President Todd Miller than in the last few years. Todd has a relatively unparalleled level of experience, having spent many years heading a manufacturer and serving multiple industry organizations.
I hope you can point to a specific article that shed light on a topic or taught you something new this year. The roofing landscape continues to change and evolve, with new technologies, materials, and techniques coming along frequently. Many of us are already taking advantage of these advances and are pivoting to serve even more customers than before.
Along with these changes, Todd told us last month about a potential remodeling boom in 2025. While remodeling activity declined slightly this year due to several factors, from consumer confidence to the now-concluded election season, 2025 holds significant promise for all of us in the construction and remodeling sector. (In case you missed last month’s brief review of the Q3 US Remodeler Index, check it out here.)
As that article concluded, with all the changes coming to our industry, our best bet is to adapt. Our industry holds tremendous potential for collaboration and helping each other succeed. The old adage, “A rising tide lifts all ships,” comes to mind.
We certainly featured several opportunities for you and your peers to connect this year, including several annual tradeshows to consider attending and trade organizations well worth your membership. I want to highlight the Metal Roofing Association again here, not only for the legitimacy it can lend your business but also for the marketing resources, homeowner education, and lead generation it offers.
Lead generation has certainly proved challenging for many of us this year, with leads dwindling alongside project inquiries. Several methods we discussed in September’s issue can help fill up your calendar. Leaning on completed jobs by maximizing your referrals through keeping in touch with past customers and implementing a rewards program can be very effective. We’ve also found success rehashing older leads. As we all know, this line of work comes with some longer lead cycles. Projects themselves take long enough, but many homeowners arrive at the point of making decisions after plenty of research.
Whatever you’ve taken from our articles in 2024, we hope you continue to push forward. Metal roofing has experienced remarkable growth over the past few years, and customers are increasingly more open and comfortable discussing it as a viable option alongside more common roofing materials.
Thank you for letting us be part of your busy year. Here’s to a fantastic 2025!
