From March 10-11 in Atlanta, GA, Isaiah Industries will host a Dealer Onboarding Session open to any home improvement company interested in adding metal roofing to their offerings. Take advantage of the Isaiah team’s years of experience to learn how you can sell not just metal but more asphalt roofing, too. You can find more information and register here.

In this month’s issue of Metal Roofing Magazine, Isaiah Industries’ President Todd Miller shared some valuable insights on finding success as a metal roofing contractor. I want to highlight several of these that should be helpful as we get closer to the busy season. If you’d like to read the entire article, click here.

First, Todd mentions the importance of giving your business the best chance to succeed. Building a strong team and partnering with trusted suppliers can catapult you far ahead of your competition. Depending on which products and services you want to offer your customers, manufacturer training is well worth your time. Beyond improving your installation team’s skills, you may also earn a certification or title you can display on your website and marketing.

Also, this is always worth reiterating, but marketing is essential to your sales success. Take advantage of a targeted social media campaign that reaches customers ready to buy. Reaching the right customers is crucial, especially if you sell multiple kinds of roofing at different price brackets. Todd makes a great point: “Be sure to always sell to benefit your customer.” Roofing is a major purchase, and when you sell metal, your job includes educating consumers on their options. Establishing yourself as a trusted expert goes a long way with prospects.

Todd’s next pearl of wisdom concerns the merits of training and standardization. Focus on creating a consistently excellent customer experience and an established set of systems for your people. Humans like routine, and we thrive on working in a system. Set these up ahead of time and adjust them as needed. For example, you can have consistent quoting processes or a step-by-step outline for your sales presentation. Taking the guesswork and inconsistency out of your approach will make your life easier and your manager’s, too.

Lastly, Todd advises you on how to move on from your business. While this may be years down the line, it’s always worth considering your legacy and reputation. Investing in your business now will pay off in the future. None of us can work forever (although some try), and translating a profitable operation into a successful retirement is an admirable goal.

If you’d like to hear more from Todd on any of these points or learn more about implementing them for yourself, you can reach him at 1-800-543-8938 ext. 201 or todd.miller@isaiahindustries.com. Thank you for letting us be part of your busy year. Here’s to a fantastic 2025!
