How to take your metal roofing efforts to the next level

The Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA) was founded 25 years ago to educate homeowners on the benefits of metal roofing. Isaiah Industries was a founding member of the MRA, and I am blessed to be its current president. 

A lot has happened over the past 25 years (an understatement, to be sure). We have seen the market share of residential metal roofing grow from single digits to the mid to high teens, with one study showing it at 18%. Some of this can be attributed to mobile rollforming, but the MRA’s promotion has played a part, too. 

Since the beginning, forward-thinking contractors have had an opportunity to be a part of the MRA, along with various panel manufacturers and upstream companies like metal mills, coating suppliers, fastener manufacturers, and even finance companies. Together, we have grown the industry and will continue to do so. 

While the MRA’s marketing methods have changed, it has a robust website with good SEO and significant SEM efforts. Each year, thousands of homeowners, primarily from North America, visit the MRA website to view projects, learn about the benefits of metal roofing, ask questions, and connect with experienced metal roofing contractors. 

Once on the MRA site, homeowners can submit their information to receive a list of member contractors in their area. Those contractors are then connected with these prospects directly. 

Contractors can join the MRA for as little as $1200 per year. To become a member of the MRA, you must be sponsored by an MRA member manufacturer (like one of the Isaiah Industries brands). They also must agree to promote, sell, and install products that meet the Premium Quality standards of the Metal Construction Association. As members of the MRA, contractors can tap into resources for their education and training and marketing materials to help them promote and sell quality metal roofing. Also, they gain credibility by promoting themselves as a select member of the MRA. At any given time, usually fewer than 200 contractors are members.
