Falling Back In Love With What You Do
I hope this finds you well and enjoying a great summer. The last few months have been so exciting for us as we have watched the growth of residential metal roofing. The dealers who sell and install our products across North America are all as busy as they can be this year, enjoying a market in which homeowners are making wise decisions for the futures of themselves and their homes. And, they’re making those decisions much more quickly than they have for several years. We’re confident that this year will go down as a “banner year” for residential metal roofing, with considerable growth in market share.
Back in Issue 27 of the Residential Metal Roofing Executive Report, we touched on “Five Hallmarks Of A Successful Metal Roofing Contractor.” Those five hallmarks are Passion, Systemization, Numbers, Sales Process, and Installation. We promised to dig into each of those ideas more deeply in future issues of the Executive Report. So, this issue, we want to take a look at how residential metal roofing contractors are PASSIONATE about what they do.
First of all, it has been our observation that successful remodeling contractors are always those contractors who have excitement and enthusiasm for what they do. They love working with and serving homeowners. They are thrilled to bring value and delight to their customers by making changes that bring beauty, value, and efficiency to their homes. These same high-performance contractors approach each potential customer with the idea of what can they do to benefit the homeowner, never what the homeowner can do to benefit them.
In a word, the most successful remodeling contractors are PASSIONATE about what they do, and about doing it with EXCELLENCE.
Over time, though, these same contractors can start to get bored and they find themselves seeking products and services that restore the “fire in the belly” passion that helped drive them to become successful industry leaders. That is where we have found they often discover residential metal roofing and, in so doing, re-capture that passion and enthusiasm.
Their Passion stems from developing a keen understanding of residential metal roofing and the benefits that today’s products offer to homeowners. Oftentimes, they install a metal roof on their own home, just to confirm the beauty, value, security, and comfort provided by these products.
Once the Passion develops and they know to their very core that metal roofing offers the best option for homeowners in their area, they can begin to spread that Passion throughout their organization. And that is how a successful industry-leading residential metal roofing contractor is born.
Whether you are transforming an existing business or building a new business to focus on residential metal roofing, it takes time, hard work, and dedication. But the contractors who do it enjoy great benefits as they work with homeowners who are fed up with traditional roofing options.
Consider this quote by Steve Jobs:
“You have to be burning with an idea, or a problem, or a wrong that you want to right. If you’re not passionate enough from the start, you’ll never stick it out.”
We believe this to be true … again, the most successful residential metal roofing contractors are all Passionate about what they do. They know that old roofing technology does not serve homeowners well, and that metal roofing offers the best option.
If you’d like to know more about this Passion, I will be happy to connect you with successful contractors who have the Passion and are using it to fuel successful businesses that are creating customers who are absolutely thrilled with their beautiful new metal roofs. Feel free to drop me a response email and let’s begin the dialogue so I can connect you with someone with whom you will enjoy talking.
Again, I hope this finds you busy, AND Passionate about what you’re doing. That is what provides the fuel for success.
